Photo-Intervention: A Performative Evening on Photography

On June 4, the doors of the Künstlerhaus Frappant open for a change of perspective on photographic discourses and their mediation. The familiar framework of working with and reflecting on photography is to be left behind and expanded to include new approaches.

We invite the participants of the intervention to the mail art project 21.lettres.a.la. to present their work again.

The performance, which premiered in 2020 at the Folkwang Museum in Essen, presents the fictional production process of the conceptual and sociocritical mail art project. It not only reflects on the undisclosed production process but also questions the mechanisms of the art market and the necessity of authorship in photography.

The evening will feature moving image projections by artist Pencil Quincy, a photography quiz, and a collaborative exhibition of submitted works. Live curated by Sophie-Charlotte Opitz.
